Sometimes, It May Not Be Your Health That Needs Fixing First

Have you ever felt like you’re trying to change everything at once?

You want to sleep better.

You want more energy.

You want to manage your stress.

You want to be more active.

You want to eat better.

But you also want to be more present for your children and see them do well in this new school year.

You want that promotion.

You want to finally do that course you’ve been talking about for ages.

You want to change jobs because the redundancy is looming.

You want to start that business - all the signs seem to be pointing you in that direction.

You want to travel.

You want more time for yourself.

You want to meet someone new/finally feel ready to move on after a breakup/divorce.

And perhaps amongst some of these, you’re also dealing with perimenopause symptoms or fibroids, and constantly feeling exhausted.

Suddenly, changing your health isn’t just about changing your health.

It’s competing with everything else you want from your life.

And that’s where it can become so overwhelming.

The problem isn’t necessarily that you don’t know what to do.

It’s that when one area of your life isn’t working well, it can make everything else harder.

Fixing The Not So Obvious Part Of Your Health

Your health affects everything and everything affects your health.

This is why sometimes it's about fixing the not so obvious before working on the obvious - sleep, movement, gut health etc.

Think about what happens when another area of your life isn’t working.

Maybe you’re unhappy or constantly stressed at work. That stress follows you home, affects your sleep, drains your energy and leaves little left for exercise, cooking or enjoying time with the people you love.

Or perhaps you’ve lost sight of your purpose. You’re going through the motions, but you’re not excited about what you’re doing anymore. That can affect your motivation, your confidence and your willingness to make changes elsewhere.

Maybe you’re achieving plenty on paper, but you’re so busy that you don’t actually feel a sense of personal achievement or progress.

And what about fun and happiness? When life becomes all work, responsibilities and getting through the day, you can lose the things that make you feel like you.

But here’s the thing:

You don’t necessarily have to fix every area at once.

Sometimes, one area is the first domino.

The First Domino

Fix what’s draining you at work, and you may have more energy for your health.

Reconnect with your purpose, and you may find the motivation to start that course or business you’ve been putting off. You will feel good you've started, when you feel good, you tend to do the good you need for your health e.g., meal plan, meal prep, chose the greek youghurt with nuts and seeds over the chocolate etc.

Create more space for fun and happiness, and you may feel more positive and confident about making other changes. That's where the discipline was hiding.

You might then feel more motivated to carry your water bottle, pack your gym bag the night before, put your trainers by the door as the first thing you see when you get home to trigger you to go for a walk.

Not because you suddenly developed incredible discipline.

Because you started feeling better.

And when you start feeling better, something else can happen.

You begin to believe:

"Actually, I can do this."

That feeling of confidence can be incredibly powerful.

You start to see yourself making changes rather than constantly starting again.

And that can create a more positive mindset, which gives you the determination to keep going.

Start making progress in one meaningful area, and the benefits can begin to ripple into the rest of your life.

That’s why consistency isn’t always about having more discipline.

Sometimes, it starts with identifying the right thing to work on first.

Your Life Is All Connected

The challenges you face don't necessarily sit neatly in separate boxes.

Your health, your energy, your mood, your relationships, your work and your confidence can all influence one another.

Think of your body. You can't separate your broken leg, leave it at home, so you can go to work. You have to tend to it and when you do, you will then be able to go to work.

Often the challenges we face are not brought into the conversation of making changes. They are dealt with separately and that will not work for us. This is why I love the sessions I have with clients. We can start talking about sleep and weight loss and end up talking about career, purpose, social life etc because when one isn't working, the sleep will be impacted for example.

To tackle the sleep we tackle the loneliness, we tackle the dissatisfaction in life, we tackle how you can't even remember the last time you had fun. Everything affects your health, so we have to talk about it.

That’s why trying to tackle everything also at once can feel so overwhelming. Your health has many moving parts to it.

What if you started with one thing?

Instead of asking:

"How am I going to fix everything?"

Ask:

"What is the one area that, if I improved it, could make the biggest difference to everything else?"

It might be your hobbies, energy or fitness.

It might be your mindset, finances or family life.

It might be purpose, spiritual life or your sense of belonging.

Or perhaps you simply need more me time, fun, peace or happiness. These are just some examples.

Start with the area that could create the biggest positive ripple.

When you start to feel better in one area, you can gain confidence, a sense of achievement and a more positive mindset — making it easier to take action in others.

And eventually, the motivation and discipline to keep doing the things that support you.

So, sometimes, that first small shift is all you need to start moving forward again.

Because sometimes, the biggest change doesn't start with doing more or even the obvious.

How do you start?

1. Ask yourself: What area of my life, if improved, could make the biggest difference to everything else?

2. Start small: Choose one simple action you can realistically repeat and build from there. That's how to build consistency- repetition verses relying on motivation

3. If you’re still unsure, get clarity.

A 30-minute Clarity & Consistency session can help you identify your first domino.

You’ll leave with greater clarity, confidence in what to do next, and a realistic starting point to help you build consistency.

Examples:

  • If you’re struggling with purpose, you’ll leave with more clarity on the vision you want for your life so you can then identify the steps that will continue to get you closer to living a life of fulfillment

  • If your mindset is holding you back, you’ll leave knowing what needs to change so you can feel more confident about taking action and believe you can do it!

  • If you’re feeling a lack of belonging, you’ll leave clearer on what connection you need so you can feel less alone and more supported.

  • If your personal devotion time is less than what you want, you’ll leave with greater clarity on how to make realistic changes that feel manageable versus a tick box exercise that you dread, so you can grow in your faith.

  • If life has become all work and responsibility with little fun, you’ll leave knowing what you can change so life feels enjoyable again and boost your mental health.

  • If you’re struggling with happiness, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what could bring more joy into your everyday life despite your busy schedule so you can start feeling better now, not “when everything is sorted.”

If you’ve spent most of this year trying to make changes but still feel stuck or overwhelmed, there’s still time to make this final leg of the year count.

The 30-minute Clarity & Consistency Session is £48
